It’s La Salle vs UV / NU vs. ISBB

Roxas City – Five-Peat seeking La Salle Greenhills and the University of the Visayas (UV) clash anew in a rematch for the Small Basketeers Philippines division championship at the national finals of the 34th SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo. In the Passerelle division, Nazareth School of National University (NU) will defend its title againt first-time finalist International School for Better Beginnings of Lucena. The match-ups were set after all four teams registered two straight wins each on opening day of the weekend tournament held at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.

La Salle Greenhills was dominant in bulldozing past Corpus Christi School of Cagayan de Oro, 91-51, and Berkeley School of Baguio, 93-34. UV was right up there with La Salle, beating Berkeley School, 79-14, and Corpus Chrisi, 82-62, setting the showdown of a rematch. La Salle Greenhills squeaked past UV, 42-38, at last year’s championship game and is looking to score a more convincing win this time. UV finds itself in a better situation than they were last year and is going all-out to overcome La Salle. Both sides had faced each other for the SBP division championship in 2016 and 2018.

National University, heavily favored to win its second straight title, ran over Hercor College of Roxas, 106-40, and Xavier University High School of Cagayan de Oro, 109-72. ISBB nipped Xavier University High School, 72-70, then outdueled Hercor College, 87-82, to make its first ever appearance in a Passerlle division championship game.

The 34th SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo is the country’s premier tournament for the Under 12 and Under 15 age groups. It is also backed by Chris Sports, SKLZ and Rain or Shine.

Milo BEST: All Basics The Basketball Efficiency Scientific Training (BEST) Center has been around for 31 years, and it has been at the forefront of doing the most basic of basketball teaching: sticking to the basics. SHS-Ateneo Wins Passerelle Championship

Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu scored its second straight Passerelle Division championship as it overcame the University of the Visayas, 68-61, to rule the 34 th   SBP Passerelle Twin Tournament backed by Milo at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club Gym. The Magis Eagles seized control of the game in the second period, built a commanding lead in the third before fighting off a UV rally in the end game to win the championship. The defending champions took a 17-11 lead after the first period as Joseph Dytian delivered eight points in the period. MVP Joash Cutamora and Rafael Arradaza then combined for 17 points in the second period to put up a 34-25 halftime lead. It was the third period set that broke the game open as they built a 52-32 lead behind three triples of Alden Cainglet and leadership of Jared Bahay. But UV countered to slice the lead to 56-43 by the end of the third period. With momentum on its side, UV put up a furious end-game rally, slicing the lead to six points
