CESAFI President Engr. Bernard Villamor called on all coaches, tournament managers and officials to serve as role models for CESAFI student-athletes as they prepare for the upcoming CESAFI Season 19. Villamor addressed the body at its workshop and technical meetings held over the weekend at the USC Main Gym, as part of the league’s preparation for the season.

Using the term “going the extra MILE” as an theme and acronym, Villamor called on all to make the CESAFI season meaningful, inspirational, lasting and experiential. “Let’s create this great experience for the students. Pull yourself above the moment and know that you are role models for the students,” he said. As role models, Villamor stressed that their influence over student-athletes is tremendous, thus the need to go the extra mile. “The impact that you make on the lives of these students is truly going to be forever,” he added.

The CESAFI Workshop and technical meeting brought together the all coaches, tournament managers and athletic directors of the member schools to review the CESAFI ground rules on eligibility and other technical matters. Commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy Jr. also called on all to work together for a successful season. He also revealed that the league is investing in a production team that well record CESAFI events and that will manage the league’s social media arms. The team called “CESAFI Live!” is composed of student-volunteers from the different CESAFI schools.

The season will start on August 31 with an opening ceremony and two basketball games at the Cebu Coliseum. All other events will follow in September. Events on tap are basketball, volleyball, swimming, athletics, table tennis, lawn tennis, chess, football, futsal, dancesport, karatedo, taekwondo, and weightlifting.
